Our mission is to promote cultural pride, creative expression, and community empowerment through a variety of events and initiatives. From traditional dance performances and movie nights to food festivals and cultural showcases, we bring together students to honor heritage and have fun.

At SISA we don’t just host events we create experiences that inspire. Whether it’s Onam celebration, South Indian empire night or a Filmfare style awards night, we’re building a platform where every background is celebrated.

President

Satvik Gurram

Satvik is a senior on the pre-medical track currently doing a History major. Having grown up Telugu, he is a diehard Prabhas fan but leaves room for the heroes of other South Indian states in his heart. Outside of SISA, he is a research assistant; and he spends his free time unhealthily watching the newest South Indian movies, learning Hindi on Duolingo, and playing open-world videogames.

Vice President

Ashvath Srinivasan Govindamoorthy

Ashvath is a junior on the CS+Business track with a deep passion for South Indian cinema. Growing up Tamil, his playlist was basically Vijay intros and Anirudh bangers on loop. Outside of SISA, you’ll find him juggling hackathons, spreadsheets, and random Wikipedia dives into Tamil history. As SISA’s Vice President, he’s here to make sure the events hit harder than a Thalaivar punchline.

Treasurer

Ajey Sasimugunthan

Ajey is a junior studying Electrical Engineering. Growing up Tamil, he was surrounded by Vijay and Ajith movies, plenty of kuthu music, and countless hours of watching old songs and scenes on DVDs. He has a deep love for kuthu dance and brings the energy to any dance floor. Outside of SISA, you’ll find him shooting hoops, following car culture and automotive design, playing video games, and strength training.

Social Media Director

Sreya Ravi

Sreya is a senior studying Business Administration (HCMC) and Health Sciences with a music minor. This is her second year as Social Media director for SISA, and it has truly been a creative outlet. She grew up very immersed in Telugu culture, from eating the best Hyderabadi dum biriyani to rewatching Race Gurram every week. After joining SISA, she was exposed to Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada movies and music and fell even more in love with South Indian culture. In her free time, she loves going to debate conferences, long walks, trying spicy food, watching movies FDFS, composing music, and hanging out with her friends.

Secretary

Havisha Neelamraju

Havisha is a senior studying Data Science and Biology, and she serves as the Secretary for SISA. She grew up Telugu, but Chennai has always felt like a second home. A Carnatic music student since the age of 4, she’s experienced South Indian culture through a musical lens and enjoys everything from classical krithis to the latest film hits (her South Indian playlist is 63+ hours and counting!). She loves watching South Indian movies and spending hours doing Wikipedia deep dives. In her free time, you’ll find her singing, drawing, jamming to Tollywood/Kollywood classics as she drives around, chasing sunsets, or celebrating her favorite festivals with friends and family. As Secretary, she’s excited to bring all this energy into making fun, engaging presentations that’ll keep you coming back each meeting!

Outreach Coordinator

Thillainayaki Sudhakar

Thillainayaki, or Thillai for short, is a junior studying Data Science & Biology and she serves as the Outreach Coordinator on SISA. If you guessed from her name that she’s Tamil, you’re right! She looks back on car rides listening to Ilayaraja hits, rewatching older iconic Vijay and Surya movies, and dressing up in colorful garb as some of her favorite memories growing up Tamil. In her free time, she loves adding to an ever-growing collection of fantasy books to read, shows and anime to watch, new music to discover, and games to play, while trying her best at actually getting through it all.
